The issues raised in the report, including the subject of closed camps are of the utmost importance: the public and parliamentary interest which the report has generated are an indication of this. As I said in the Adjournment debate on 14 May, the Government is considering the Committee's recommendations very carefully, and will

respond to the House as soon as possible. Must therefore make clear

that it would be inappropriate today for me to comment directly on

any of the Select Committee's recommendations. There are nevertheless certain points I wish to make not only on subject of closed camps, but also on other related issues.
