POSSIBILITY OF RESETTLING SOME VIETNAMESE WITHIN HONG

KONG ITSELF

Hong Kong has absorbed some 14,300 displaced persons from

Indo-China since 1975. One of most densely populated

places in world. Annually absorbs large numbers of

immigrants from China. As place of first asylum, Hong

Kong has devoted substantial resources to giving shelter

over 100,000 Vietnamese refugees since 1975: admirable

to

record.

Nevertheless we shall examine the SCORRI

recommendation in this regard in consultation with the

Hong Kong Government.
