Unfortunately, this and many of the other social problems to which Mrs Elliott refers are to a considerable extent results of the harrowing experiences many refugees will have endured prior to and during their escape from Vietnam, and of the temporary and uncertain life they now lead while awaiting permanent resettlement outside

Hong Kong.

We and the Hong Kong authorities, in concert with UNHCR, are doing all we can to speed up the search for new homes.
