Benjamin Tang (Hong Kong Government Office) asked for 5.2 paragraph 3) to be amended to:

(page 5,

"Benjamin TANG (Hong Kong Government Office) reported that the rate of resettlement from Hong Kong had been falling since 1982 - 9247 in 1982 (the year the closed camp policy was introduced), 4,200 in 1983 and only 2329 have been resettled so far this year. Arrivals, however, had dropped. He gave the following figures for arrivals:
