Da heftey,
Miss Jill Reynolds and
Mr Truc who are constituents of mine concerned with the Vietnamese Community in Bristol came to see me recently to express worries about the future of the Vietnamese remaining in the camps in Hong Kong.
In particular they made the point that there are about relations
500 people remaining in the camps with
in Britain and would like to join them. Their anxieties are obviously heightened to some extent by the agreement on the future of Hong Kong because very many of
of the remaining refugees would presumably not want to stay in Hong Kong in the long term if
if there is to be an increase in Chinese communist influence.
But the point they made in particular was really a more general
what is the British Government's present
present view of the future of the refugees and what hope is there of Britain accepting some more, particularly in terms of re-uniting families?
