I know the argument that humane treatment would attract more refugees. To this may I suggest that if any other refugees do arrive they should be immediately repatriated, provided their lives are not in danger, as Chinese illegal immigrants are repatriated now. The argument does not excuse allowing the abuses I have mentioned.
Even if my proposal to repatriate (as was done with a plane-load of refugees from Vietnam under the previous Government efore 1975) is not practicable, at least there should be some solution to the present separation and sexual assault problem within the camps.
The question is, does anyone care?
