Seriously concerned about
Vietnamese
refugee problem in
Hong Kong. Have decided to accept 500 more refugees to the UK, and to ask for more help from friends and allies. Nearly 100
of the refugees in Hong Kong have close relatives in West Germany. Appreciate extent of Germany's refugee problems; but hope you may be able to accept some of them.

initiative.) Too early to assess overall response, but
encouraging that a number of countries (eg Australia, Zealand) have already agreed to specific increases
numbers they take from Hong Kong.
