I am most grateful to you for your interest in this matter. The British Government fully appreciates the large Indo-Chinese refugee burden which France has shouldered in recent years, and well understands the difficulties that this must have imposed on the French Government. We would nevertheless be very grateful for anything you can do to assist with the resettlement of some of the refugees who are now in Hong Kong.
