Seriously concerned about Vietnamese refugee problem Hong Kong. Have decided to accept 500 more refugees to the UK, and

to ask for more help from friends and allies. Understand that

Auswaertiges Amt have informed our Embassy in Bonn that FRG finds it

difficult to assist. Appreciate your difficulties but hope you may be able to reconsider. There are, for example, nearly 100 refugees in Hong Kong with close relatives in West Germany.

Too early to assess overall response, but already encouraging that a number of countries (eg Australia, specific increases from Hong Kong.
