Aftenposten (roughly equivalent of the Times in Oslo) of 16 October features prominently an article forecasting that the Norwegians will take a further 100 Vietnamese refugees from Hong Kong. A proposal to this effect from the Department of Social Affairs will, according to the article, be put to the Government shortly.

3.

Aftenposten described our demarche last month in factual terms. It implied that the only significant hurdle to government acceptance of the proposal is that the Department of Social Affairs will need an additional budgetary appropriation of 9.5 million NKR (approximately £900,000) to implement it.

Norwegian authorities. developments.

We shall of course keep you informed of

Your Sincerely. David loen
