Joint Liaison Group
3.
First meeting of Sino-British Joint Liaison Group held
in London in July. Encouraging start. Next meeting in Peking
in November.
Land Commission
4.
Land Commission meetings going very well.

Chinese have set up machinery for drafting the Basic Law for post 1997 Hong Kong. Progress being made.
BN(0) Passports
6.
From 1 July 1987 we shall be issuing BN(O) passports. Crucially important to confidence in Hong Kong and for success
of agreement that freedom of
Hong Kong's
continued economic
travel, which is vital
prosperity, is
to
maintained.
