HOME CONFERENCES ANNUAL ESTIMATES

Financial Year April 1986 - March 1987

M

dr.

1. At the end of September we will compile estimates for the 1986/87 financial year for (i) ministerial conferences to be held in the United Kingdom in 1986/87 and (ii) ministerial meetings at Chevening. I should be grateful if you could consider all possible events in this category and submit your bids on the attached form. Please reproduce

forms as necessary in order to provide one form for each

event.

2.

Given the continuing pressure on cash limits, the problem of having to produce funds for events which have not been included in the estimates is likely to be greater than it has been in the past; it is therefore important that Departments ensure that bids are submitted for all foreseeable events. However, to enable the 1986/87 provision to be allocated in the most effective way please indicate the priority attached to each event by writing either 'Essential' or 'Desirable' at the top of the form relating to it. Inclusion of a bid in the estimates does not mean that financial authority has been given for it to take place. Confirmation must therefore be sought from Protocol Department that funds remain available when the planning stage for the event has been reached.

3.

I should be grateful if the completed forms (nil returns are required) could be returned to me by 17 September.

4.

Departments will be informed in due course of the estimates provision made in response to their bids.
