Destruction of Submissions to the Assessment Office

On the invitation of Government, I witnessed

the destruction of the submissions made to the Assessment

Office on 28 May 1985.

2.

In the company of Mr. Peter Tsao, Secretary for

Administrative Services and Information, I arrived at the

Archivist's Office at 10 a.m. and witnessed the opening

of the vault containing the submissions. These were

contained in 44 numbered cartons.

I initialled every

carton before its removal from the vault to the Kennedy

Town Government Incinerating Plant.

3.

On arrival at the Incinerating Plant, I checked

all 44 cartons and they were found to be in order. I

then had 14 cartons opened in my presence and the contents

were examined by me. I was satisfied that the cartons

contained the submissions to the Assessment Office and were

intended to be destroyed.

4.

The cartons were loaded into the incinerator at

11:30 a.m. in my presence; and I stayed until the Plant

Manager, Mr. Rowland informed me that the cartons and

their contents had been incinerated.
