LOCAL I SATION OF LEGISLATION APPLICABLE TO HONG KONG

1. I attach a copy of a letter from John Chan (Hong Kong) about the localisation of legislation applicable to Hong Kong.

2. I would be grateful for your general comments on Hong Kong's proposed plan of action and more particularly, about the various UK Acts and Orders in Council which apply to Hong Kong. I am not aware of any comprehensive list but feel sure you will be able to confirm whether or not such a list does exist.

3. If you agree with Mr Chan's suggestion that all other Government Departments should consult Hong Kong about any new

legislation or existing legislation affecting Hong Kong, we will arrange for them to be informed.
