Deed of Appropriation

1952 BETWEEN The Government of the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong by Alexander William George Herder Grantham Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies (hereinafter referred to as "the Government") of the one part and The Commissioners for Executing The Office of Lord High Admiral of the United Kingdom (hereinafter referred to as "the Lords Commissioners") of the other part WITNESSETH that ALL that piece of land known as Chik Chau or Port Island situate at Mirs Bay in the New Territories in the Colony of Hong Kong in the entrance to Tolo Channel containing an area of 110.50 acres or thereabouts as shown edged red in thej plan annexed hereto and intended to be known and identified in Land Office records as ADMIRALTY LOT NO. 8 though remaining vested in the Crown shall be and the same is hereby appropriated and set apart for the exclusive use of and occupation by the Lords Commissioners for the purposes of a Naval Coast Watching Station and the permanent defence installations and erections thereon for so long as the said Island is required and used for
the stipulated purposes but not exceeding the term of 99 years from 1st July 1898 less the last three days and so long as the following terms and conditions are observed and performed by
the Lords Commissioners:-
1.
No premium shall be payable for the use and occupation
of the said Island but the Lords Commissioners shall pay into the Hong Kong Treasury the sum of $10.00 per annum on the 1st
day of January every year commencing from the 1st day of
January 1952 as an acknowledgment for the appropriation of the
said Island on these terms and conditions.
2. (a) The Island shall be used only for the stipulated pur- poses and the Lords Commissioners shall at all times maintain
the same and the existing buildings thereon in good order and
condition.
