MOD PROPERTY IN HONG KONG
1.
Thank you for your letter of 1 February enclosing learned Tracts by Hong Kong Government lawyers on the status of MOD land in Hong Kong. We are studying these. Clearly, when we come to consider policy, our attitude towards MOD land will be closely connected to whatever is decided on the future of the garrison.
2.
In the meantime it would be very helpful if you could establish what other holdings of land and property
HMG, as opposed to the Crown, have in Hong Kong apart from MOD holdings. I imagine that these will include the BTC, GCHQ property and accommodation for staff, but a comprehensive
(see para 5 of Christopher Hum's letter
list would be useful
of 16 November).
