The Express: Mr Lau Chin-shek's withdrawal from the labour groups' joint conference on the Basic Law shows that some communists here still cannot accept people with a dissenting voice.

Sing Pao: Mr Lau

Chin-shek's withdrawal from the labour groups' joint conference serves to tell us that a

majority vote system does not necessarily mean democracy as FTU member

Ching Po: The row caused by Mr Lau Chin-shek's withdrawal from the joint conference of labour groups on the Basic Law is a result of misunderstanding and should now come to an end.

Bar Association chairman Denis Chang: BLCC members should use Cantonese, Putonghua and English

when discussing the Basic Law. The Basic Law should have both a Chinese and an English version.

Legco member Rosanna Tam: There is no need to

discuss the Basic Law in Legco as there is already the BLCC to canvass views.

Desmond Lee of HK Polytechnic: Students should treasure the opportunity of joining the BLCC to air their views on HK's political system.
