* A resolution ratified by the closing session of the 3rd plenary session of the NPC: The Basic Law drafting committee will include specialists and public figures from all walks of life including HK Chinese compatriots. Its membership will be decided and announced later by the NPC Standing Committee.

HK and Macau Affairs

Office Director Ji Pengfei (meeting with Legco Unofficial F.K. Hu in Peking): HK people will be represented on the Basic Law drafting committee.

Financial Daily: There is a need to set up an SAR committee under the NPC to ensure that the NPC Standing Committee will properly execute its power to interpret the Basic Law in case conflicts in interests arise between the Central and the SAR Governments.
