1. As I told you, the new Ambassador of the People's - Republic of China, Mr Hu Dingyi, is due to arrive in London on Sunday 14 April and will assume his functions on 15 April when I shall call on him at the Chancery to receive the working copies of his credentials.

An audience of Her Majesty The Queen for the presentation of the Letter of Credence will be arranged in due course and is likely to take place in early May.
