acquisition of new form of British nationality ("British National

(Overseas)") by all persons who on 1 July 1997 are BDTCs by

virtue of a a connection with Hong Kong;

acquisition of this new status by eligible persons born on or

after 1 January 1997 but before 1 July 1997;

right of abode in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR)

by persons, such as majority of Hong Kong Indian community, who

would have been ordinarily resident in Hong Kong for continuous

period of seven years and who have made their permanent home

there.
