the Antarctic Pole and making contributions to mankind's peaceful use of Antarctica, the National Committee

for Antarctic Research of the People's Republic of China has decided to send a Chinese Antarctic expedition

team to Antarctica during the Antarctic summer of 1984/ 1985. The oceangoing scientific. survey

ship

"Xiangyanghong No.10" and the salvage boat "J121" are scheduled to go to the waters of the Antarctic Peninsula on 20 November 1984 for scientific survey in the Southern Ocean and the team intends to set up a summer station for scientific research at a place it chooses in the

Antarctic Peninsula. Your Government is kindly requested

to render them assistance and cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the assurances of its highest consideration.
