POST SIGNATURE CHECK LIST

SECOND EDITION: JANUARY 1985

The attached Check List has been compiled by General Duties Branch as a guide to the action to be taken following signature of the Agreement. It is based on points identified in the course of the negotiations and subsequently. The list includes reference to items which will require attention in order to implement the Agreement and to prepare generally for the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The list will be amended as new points emerge and action on other points is completed.

The Check List has been arranged in the form of the Annexes to the Joint Declaration with the addition of a General Section. Items have been subdivided between those requiring

(a)

(b)

immediate action (to be completed before ratification i.e. by 30 June 1985);

early action i.e. within the next year, but not necessarily

ratification;

requiring action before

action in the medium term i.e. within the next five years;

(c)

(d)

action in the long term i.e. by 30 June 1997.

In some subjects action will span (b) to (c) and/or (d)
