HONG KONG NATIONALITY WHITE PAPER
ARGUMENTS FOR AMENDMENT
10.
DEPRIVATION OF BN(0) STATUS
Argument
1.
The provisions for deprivation in the British Nationality
Act 1981 should not apply to BN (0)s.
Government Proposals
2.
By vistie
of Article 7(6) of the draft Order, a BN(0) may
be deprived of this status.
Line to Take

from these provisions.
Scope for Amendment
4.
Undesirable. It would Chang be possible to exclude BN (0)s
from the provisions for deprivation. But this would lead to the anomalous position whereby a BDTC who became a BN (0) could be
If it deprived of his BDTC status, but not of his BN (0) status. were not fitting that he should remain a BDTC, then it follows that it would not be fitting that he should remain a BN(0).
