DRAFT HONG KONG (BRITISH NATIONALITY) ORDER
I enclose a fresh page to replace page 4, incorporating
alterations as requested to provide that a person who ceases to be a BDTC loses BN (0) at the same time and not on 1 July 1997.
2. As I see it, we do not need to say anything about statelessness in Article 4(3). A person can only cease to be a BDTC by renunciation or deprivation under section 12 or 40 (as applied to BDTCs) of the 1981 Act and those sections. prevent it happening in appropriate cases of statelessness.
3. The new Article 6(1) omits any reference to Article 4(3), since it will have no relevance with loss of BN (0) occurring before 1 July 1997.
17 September 1985.
