British Nationality Act 1981

7.-(1) The provisions of the British Nationality Act 1981

("the 1981 Act") specified in paragraphs (2) to (9) below shall

have effect subject to the amendments there specified.

(2) Section 4(1) (acquisition by registration: British

Dependent Territories citizens, etc.) shall have effect as if for

the words "or a British protected person" there were substituted

the words " a British protected person or a British National

(Overseas)".

[(3) Section 37 (Commonwealth citizenship) shall have effect

as if in subsection (1)(a) -

(a) the reference to the 1981 Act included a reference

to this Order;

(b)

for the words "or a British subject" there were

substituted the words " a British subject or

a British National (Overseas)".]

Section 41 (regulations and Orders in Council) shall

have effect as if

any reference in it to the 1981 Act included a

reference to this Order;

in subsection (1)(f) after the word "citizenship"

there were inserted the words "or of the status

of a British National (Overseas)";

in subsection (1)(i) for the words "and British

protected persons" there were substituted the

words ", British protected persons and British

Nationals (Overseas)" ;
