Deur Tuny,

HONG KONG AGREEMENT:

ORDER IN COUNCIL

Gerry Emery wrote to you on 17 June enclosing a fresh draft Order in Council. He suggested in paragraph 14 of that letter that it might be useful to have a meeting to consider any comments of substance you might have on that draft.

The purpose of this letter is simply to confirm that I shall be glad to hold such a meeting at 10.00 am on Monday 1 July in my room here. Perhaps your secretary could confirm to mine that that time is convenient to you, and if so let her know who will be attending from FCO. If you could let us know before the meeting of any points you have it in mind to raise so much the better.

I would like to take the opportunity to take stock of where we stand on "passports" and consider how best to bring those issues to a conclusion (or at least to the point at which we need to consult our Ministers about them).
