(a) we say that we will approach the Chinese to seek to ensure that it is possible for the descendants of non-Chinese former BDTCs born in Hong Kong to obtain Chinese nationality if they wish to do

(b) that we will provide in the Order in Council for the grandchildren (but no further generations) of people who are BDTCs in Hong Kong before 1997 to benefit from provisions analogous to those in Section 17 (2) and 3 (a) and (b) of the BNA, if they would otherwise be stateless.
