Article 6

APPLICATION AND AMENDMENT OF BRITISH NATIONALITY ACT 1981

1. The following provisions of the British Nationality Act

1981 shall apply for the purposes of this Order as they apply for

the purposes of that Act, namely

(a)

section 41 Regulations and Orders in Council), so far

as it relates to the making of regulations, but as

if in subsection (1)(i) for the words from "deaths

of" to "born" there were substituted the words.

Nalierials

["British Overseas) nationals"];

(b) section 42 (registration and naturalisation: general

provisions), so far as it relates to registration,

but as if

(i)

(ii)

in subsections (1) and (3), for the words

"citizen of any description or as a British"

subject" there were substituted the words

Jairinal

["British (Overseas) national"];

in subsection (4), for the words from "this

Act as a" to "as from the date", there were

inserted the words ["British (Overseas)

national] shall have that status";

(c) section 43 (exercise of functions of Secretary of State

by Governors and others), so far as it relates to

registration, renunciation and deprivation, but as

if the reference to British Dependent Territories

citizens were a reference to [British Overseas)

nationals] and the references to British citizenship

and British Dependent Territories citizenship
