I submit an updated brief on the Hong Kong Bill for Lady Young's use at tomorrow's meeting of L Committee. The following paragraphs have been revised in comparison with the brief submitted with my minute of 4 January:

(a) Title of new form of Nationality (para 7(i)), to take account

of new ideas on a possible alternative title.

(b) Timetable for handling of Bill (new paras 10 12), added in

the light of my submission of 7 January, with which Mr Luce

concurs.

(c) Backers of the Bill (new para 13) amended in the light of the

responses received so far from Ministers.
