THE PRIME MINISTER'S TRAVEL OVERSEAS IN 1986
I understand that early last month Sir Anthony
Acland had a brief word with you about the Prime
Minister's travel overseas next year and that you
asked for our written proposals in due course.
In view of the heavy pressures on the Prime
Minister's diary, particularly when the United Kingdom holds the European Community Presidency in the second half of the year, we are proposing three bilateral visits outside the normal pattern of bilateral
summits. These are:

Korea
The Prime Minister has already agreed to visit
Korea from 2-3 May immediately prior to the
Economic Summit in Tokyo;

We understand that Chancellor Khol has suggested
that the Prime Minister might visit a number of units of the BAOR in March. If this is acceptable, we will wish to suggest one or two additional items for the programme nearer the time.
