San Tin Roadworks Discussion Summary: Chaired by Mr. James Wilson (Yuen Long District Officer)

1. Mr. Wilson started by stating that this meeting was called to informally discuss technical matters concerning the objection of the San Tin village people to Government's proposed San Tin /China intersection and related Route 2 roadworks.

2. Mr. Alston was requested to open the discussion by reiterating

the stand taken in his letter dated 14th July 1982, Ref:1089/ WDA/694.

3. Mr. Chee followed by stating that the three way traffic

proposed through San Tin could not be "downgraded" (in terms of design speed) through the use of a "rotary", as opposed to the presently proposed "spagetti style" three level inter- section; and that under no circumstance would Highway Office consider local (San Tin Village or New Town) access off of this intersection. Mr. Chee also pointed out that a large rotary would cause more noise disturbance due to gearing up and down and would take up as much space as the proposed intersection.

nossible realignments.
