he may recommend to Ex. Co. for them to decide whether the resumption of the small amount of land owned by those within the development area who do not wish to participate should be resumed and those owners compensated for the

resumption of their land and paid the

relevant crop compensation (b)

resettling of tenants. The Government has public housing schemes in the urban areas and new towns under which multi-storey estates are built to accommodate people displaced by development. The Government will not allow this San Tin development to proceed unless they are satisfied that poor tenants who cannot afford to buy houses in the development or elsewhere are properly reaccommodated ( 1 ), in this instance, in one or two storey buildings, the details of which have to be worked out. I did not however indicate that it would also be the responsibility of the Government to clear() the tenants. This operation will have to be worked out and proposals included in the Development Corporation's submission

to the Ex.Co. Whether the accommodation will be organised by the Housing Authority, Housing Society or under a Co-operative Scheme has yet to be decided.
