MINISTERIAL VISITS COMMITTEE : VISITS TO HONG KONG
1.
The Ministerial Visits Committee will meet later this month to
consider proposals from Departments for overseas visits by Secretary
of State and other FCO Ministers during the last quarter of the
year. We have been asked if we wish to make any bids for Ministerial visits to Hong Kong.

2. Mr Luce has already decided to visit Hong Kong in September.
is the only FCO Minister who has plans to do so during 1985 but this
should suffice as we have received proposals for Ministerial visits
in the Autumn by Mr Ridley (Transport), Mr Stanley (Armed Forces)
and Mr Fletcher (DTI). Mr Jopling (MAFF) may also visit Hong Kong
following his visit to China in November.

of the year and I therefore see no need to suggest visits by our Own
Ministers in addition to that already planned by Mr Luce.
