The assented copy of the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Bill 1985 arrived today. It is attached.

The Hong Kong Government wish to announce in the Government Gazette on Friday, 19 July that the bill has been passed. If we are to meet this deadline we have very little time to complete the G3 action.

I realise that you are even busier than usual this week. But, in view of the importance of the act and the need to inform Hong Kong as soon as it has been passed, I should be grateful if you could spare the time to examine it to establish that there is no reason for disallowance. If, however, other matters prevent you looking at the act fairly early this week perhaps Mr Bickford could be asked to help.
