Although the Food and Drug (Composition and
Labelling) Regulations do not generally apply to alcoholic
beverages, the amendment regulations made by Your Excellency
in Executive Council yesterday include a provision that if
any alcoholic beverage is marked or labelled with a list
of ingredients, it shall conform in all respects with the
requirements of the new regulations. With these various
provisions, the prompt action and warning to the public by
the Customs Service, and the wide publicity given to the
whole incident in the media, I am satisfied the public have
adequate protection.
