MR RENTON'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

In the admirable briefing prepared for Mr Renton's visit, the list of personalities attached is highly eccentric. The points which particularly struck me are that Messrs Bray, Davies, Scott and Bowan have all left or changed jobs while the second half of the note on Mr Boyd seems to bear a remarkable similarity to the CV of his predecessor. There may well be other errors.

2. In the list of Unofficial members of LEGCO, it will be useful to divide into two parts: elected.

3. In the list of prominent personalities (no heading included) the entry of Mr Hutcheon needs to be up-dated. He is now some of supervisory editor of the SCNP (I do not know the precise title) with a new "executive editor" already in place. Should you not add to the list with eg Simon Keswick and other prominent journalists such as E G Lewis Cha and Derek Davies as well as oddities such as Xu Jiatun? (Add to Christian Adams' personality note that he is due to take over as head of SEAD in January 1986).
