Many thanks for your letter of 5 June with the

copy C Sargent's extraordinary article.

It so happens that Sargent called on me when he was researching the article. At that time he mentioned nothing of his fantastic theory; on the contrary, we had what I thought at the time was rather a good and mutually iluminating session!

I have therefore considered it appropriate that I should write to him and I enclose a copy of my letter. I cannot find time to work through his article in great detail, but I hope my main point is correct.

I shall let Sir John see these papers before he leaves for London.
