PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT TO SOUTH EAST ASIA AND SRI LANKA
1.
I understand that the Prime Minister is likely to
make a decision on her visit to Peking (and Hong Kong)
in the coming days; that the preferred dates will be in
the week before Christmas; and that it is not intended to
include either the three South East Asian countries or
Sri Lanka on this occasion.

2. We need to consider how to handle the governments of Mal /luton / Sing + Sri Lanka
concerned. 'All four remain keenly interested in a visit
by Mrs Thatcher. There is some risk of offence to the
Malaysian Prime Minister and Indonesian President in
