1. Further to my minute of 19 October I now attach a second letter from Sir Patrick Nairne to the Head of Hong Kong Department. In this, Sir Patrick claims payment of his fees for the period 15 October to 5 November. Sir Patrick's last payment included 15 October. Therefore, he is now due payment for 21 days at a daily fee of £143, whcih amount to £3,003. I should be grateful if you would arrange payment of this amount, less income tax and national insurance, directly into Sir Patrick's bank account (No G1581724 at Lloyd Bank PLC, 6 Pall Mall, London SW1).

Sir Patrick will finish his assignment in Hong Kong at the end of November. I do not know whether he intends to claim another payment before the final one. I hope that whatever he decides to do it will present no difficulties for you.
