Dear Sir Patrick,
Thank you for your letter of 1 November.
We have spoken to the Paymaster General's Office about your pension deductions. I am afraid we have found out little more than Tony Galsworthy was able to tell you before you left for Hong Kong. At the end of your assignment in Hong Kong, the Finance Department of the FCO will automatically inform the Paymaster General's Office of the gross credit they have paid into your account. The Paymaster General will adjust your pension accordingly. If you have any further questions the best thing might be to write direct to Section C14 (which will deal with your pension) of the Paymaster General's Office at Sutherland House, Russell Way, Crawley, Sussex, after your return from Hong Kong. (They probably will not be able to tell you much until they receive the detailed information from our Finance Department.)
I have been informed that you are returning to the UK on
27 November on BA20. I am trying to arrange for a car to meet you at the airport and I shall let you know whether I have been successful.
