HOUSE OF LORDS DEBATE: HONG KONG
1. As you know Lord Fanshawe has moved for a short debate in the House of Lords on 21 May. His motion is:
2.
'To ask HMG what is their current approach to the
negotiations with the People's Republic of China on the future of Hong Kong, in the light of the recent visit by the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary to China and Hong Kong'.
Lady Young will reply and for this she will need a wind-up speech lasting about 15 minutes and Notes for Supplementaries.
3. Would you please set preparation of this material in hand for a first draft to reach me through Mr Luce's office by 5 pm on 14 May.
4.
Lady Young would be grateful for an oral briefing. I have fixed this in her diary for 3 pm on 21 May.
