The Future of Hong Kong: Opinion Poll

30

Further to Alistair Lang's letter of 11 June 1984 I enclose copies of two opinion polls conducted in April and May by elected members of the Yaumatei District Board and the Wanchai District Board respectively.

In common with other amateur polls, the findings need to be treated with some caution. In these polls both questionnaires were badly designed. Moreover, the sampling method of the first survey was far from satisfactory. As regards the second poll, total coverage of the surveyed population was used but the extremely low response rate gives no confidence whatsoever in the results.

Copies of these reports have been circulated

to Unofficials.

Yours sincere

sincerely,
