In my letter of 28 April forwarding the reports of opinion polls conducted in Shamshuipo District, I explained that we had not had the opportunity to conduct our normal analysis of the results.

The Commissioner for Census and Statistics has now studied these surveys and offered the following

comments:

(a)

Sampling

(i) The Shamshuipo East survey is on the

right lines.

A

minor criticism is that the non

response rate is high.

(ii) The Shamshuipo West survey is less

satisfactory. The non response rate at 80% is unacceptably high. The sample is not representative of the population surveyed.
