The Student Union of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has been closely monitoring and actively participating in the recent discussion on the political future of Hong Kong. It is also gratified to learn that the future development of the territory is receiving considerable

attention in both houses of the British Parliament.

As citizens deeply concerned with how Hong Kong will be governed after 1997, we are naturally anxious to know the British government's views. The attached questionnaire has been designed for this purpose, and we should be extremely grateful if you could kindly complete and return it to us within one month. The findings, which will be treated in strict confidence and published only in collated and summarized form, will be a tremendous help to us in developing a more thorough understanding of the views and opinions of members of the British Parliament at this time.

Should you wish to keep in touch with us for information regarding Hong Kong's political and socio-economic development, and the prevailing opinions of our community, please do not hesitate to write to us. shall endeavour to furnish you with details to the best of our ability.

We

May we thank you in anticipation for your time and co-operation, and look forward to the pleasure of hearing from you soon.

With kind regards,

Yours faithfully,

Law
