were: to be elected by all the people of Hong Kong and approved by the

Chinese Government; to be elected by the Hong Kong Municipal Council;

to be elected by representative organizations in Hong Kong and approved

by the Hong Kong Municipal Council; to be approved by the Chinese Government; to be elected by the Hong Kong Municipal Council and approved

by the Chinese Government. Respondents who chose each of the above options represented over 10% of the valid questionnaires. The remaining four options were less popular. Those who chose these options represented

less than 10% of all valid questionnaires.

(2) As for the question of how the "Hong Kong Municipal Council"

should be formed, 1,064 respondents chose a combination of 4 ways,

(IV) Views on procedures in respect of the "basio laws of the

special administrative region":

(1) In response to the question of who should participate in

the drafting of the "basic laws", 1,524 students ahose the option "to be

jointly drafted by a special committee' set up in Hong Kong by the Chinese

and British Governments and by the people of Hong Kong", representing

64% of all "valid questionnaires".

(2) In response to the question on procedures through which

the basic lawa should be adopted, 2,233 students chose the option "to be

adopted by a referendum in Hong Kong and passed by the 'National People's

Congress of China", representing 93.8% of all "valid questionnaires".
