LUNCH WITH CYRIL FUNG

1.

I had lunch today with Cyril Fung of the Fung family. He said he was actively beating up investment for the Colony. Asia was a top growth area. No reason why Hong Kong now, or in the future, should be an exception.

2.

Cyril said that the family had been in Hong Kong for three generations. They had every intention of remaining. He was an optimist. Families like his had a role to play in securing a smooth passage for Hong Kong. It was to be expected of course that others would, in the next few years, try to horn in on this activity.

3. I commended Cyril Fung's bullish attitude and investment efforts. I disclaimed any inside knowledge of the negotiations.
