Thank you for letting me have your suggestions for briefing for Lady Young. I attach a consolidated list of subjects and should be grateful for contributions by close of play on Monday 1 October so as to give Canberra and Wellington the chance to comment. Last-minute developments on any subject should be passed to me up to Lady Young's departure from the UK for New Caledonia on Thursday 11 October.

Could we please have the briefs in final form (except for ODA's contribution to the South Pacific General brief, which we would like in draft for incorporation into SPD's own contribution). Points to Make should be on pink, Essential Facts on white and the Background Briefs on blue paper. One set of briefs will be used in both New Zealand and Australia. The format of all briefs should follow the attached example, but brief numbers should be left blank.
