North Korea denies presence of its forces in Angola (Text) Commenting on a recent press report from New York, "quoting" a Western diplomatic source there, that some 25,000 troops of the DPRK have been hurled into Angola, 'Nodong Sinmun' today [3rd December] says: This is, indeed, a base fabrication and a malicious slander against our republic. The author of the commentary says: Not a single man of our people's army has ever gone to the Angolan soil. Our citizens there are none other than our embassy officials and civilian experts.
The imperialist reactionary circles pursue a heinous aim in persistently spreading the lie which can convince no one. Vexed by the daily rising international prestige of our republic, they are trying to undermine it at any cost by a shocking false propaganda. The imperialists and their stooges also seek to throw an obstacle in the way of a fair settle- ment of the Angolan situation by resorting to fabrication. Noting that the Angolan People's Liberation Armed Forces recently inflicted serious setbacks on the South African racist aggressors and the counter-revolutionary clique backed by them by mounting fierce attacks, the commentary says: Under this situation, the imperialists are carrying on such false propaganda in an effort to conceal their defeat, impair the prestige of the Angolan government, persist in the anti-Angolan aggressive policy and obstruct the independence of Namibia.
