Mr. Richard Luce,

ROOM G 6

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES

MAIN WING

LOWER ALBERT ROAD.

HONG KONG

27th September, 1983.

Dear Sir,

We very much regret not being able to see you during your present visit to Hong Kong and appreciate that your programme is already full. However, we, the Association of Expatriate Civil Servants of Hong Kong would like to take the opportunity to request that we be given the chance, either as part of the Staff Side of the Senior Civil Service Council or alone, to meet directly with United Kingdom representatives visiting Hong Kong to give the views, hopes and aspirations of our members on the future of Hong Kong.

Membership of our association consists almost entirely of professionals and professional administrators, we regard the futures of Hong Kong and ourselves to be interwoven and interdependent and wish to be able to look with confidence to the future. It is therefore our judgement that a collection of views of the people of Hong Kong is not complete without that of the expatriate civil servant.

We look forward with confidence to a Hong Kong continuing to be stable and prosperous and the opportunity to give our views to help achieve that objective.

Yours faithfully,

A.A.C.. Jayasekera

President.
