Hong Kong:

Presentation after Hong Kong Press Conference

BOU

The Secretary of State has seen your minute of 4 April about arrangements for handling the media on Hong Kong over the Easter weekend. He agrees that this is an important point and shares your view that the main effort of steering the media in the aftermath of his major press conference in Hong Kong will have to be undertaken in London. He would be grateful if Mr Luce could consider before the Easter holiday how best to respond to the inevitable media pressure over Easter for interviews. To some extent decisions will have to be taken in the light of the way the Secretary of State's press conference in Hong Kong is reported. would clearly be most useful.
